Health Minister tours exemplary medical centers in Long An province

A delegation led by Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien yesterday toured to check exemplary medical centers in the Mekong delta province of Long An’s Duc Hue District.

Additionally, the delegation liaised with Secretary of Long An Party Committee Pham Van Ranh, Chairman of People’s Committee Tran Van Can and leaders of some agencies.

In the meeting, leaders of the Department of Health in Long An Province spoke about the implementation of the project  to build and develop medical centers in 149 communes in Long An, resulting some 77.6 percent of medical clinics in localities were built and upgraded.

With the aim to raise efficiency of local medical clinics especially in communes in rural districts, the Ministry selected 26 medical centers in eight cities and provinces nationwdie. In Long An, three of facilities in Duc Hue District are selected. If these selected facilities work well, the Ministry will support 14,000 clinics nationwide in the future.

These centers were newly built with more rooms as per demand in each locality. However, it is still short of some equipment and doctors’ skills are poor.

Accordingly, Chairman Can suggested the Ministry funding support for building infirmaries which are in dire need of repair in distant and rural districts and in border crossings to satisfy examination and treatment demand of locals.     

Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien praised local administration’s attention to health sector by building good medical facilities noting that medical center to arrange its rooms to adapt to the reality. She said for these centers near district medical clinic should play a role as preventive medicine center to manage non-communicable diseases on the basis of patients’ record in internet. Moreover, more medical workers should be trained to become family doctors and public medicine master.

Before, the delegation toured two medical centers in Binh thanh and My Thanh Dong Communes asking managers to arrange its rooms to adapt to real situation./.
