Based on the forecast of drought, salinity and flood situation, the Department of Agriculture has proposed a framework for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice crop. In which, the first phase will start from October 15 and the third phase will end on December 28, 2024, striving for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice output to reach more than 1.49 million tons.

To successfully produce the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam noted that localities must closely review irrigation systems and works, ensure freshwater storage, prevent salinity associated with sowing and planting in accordance with the crop schedule to reduce the impact of drought and salinity; focus on promoting the production of high-quality rice, rice produced according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

In addition, he requested that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, affiliated units, and localities focus on developing a cooperative economy in a practical and effective manner; pay attention to developing growing area codes; maintain and develop the area and output of fruit trees according to the plan.

Regarding aquaculture, he requested that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and localities continue to promote propaganda and warn people about the immediate and long-term impacts of shrimp farming in freshwater areas, and not to develop new farming areas; strengthen management, inspection, and strictly handle violations of the law on converting rice-growing land to shrimp farming, drilling wells for salt water, and environmental protection. In cases of digging new ponds from rice fields to raise whiteleg shrimp in violation of the law, relevant sectors must resolutely handle and force them to restore the original status./.
